Handling Food Intolerances in the Spring

Spring is finally here, and slowly the temperatures are rising. This usually means more barbecues, more get-togethers, picnics, eating out with friends, hiking, etc. Now is the time to enjoy yourself, the beautiful outdoors, and leave all your worries behind. So, here are some tips to avoid the troubles that food intolerance can bring:

  1. Know what your food intolerances are: There’s nothing worse than thinking you’re fine and then feeling bloated when you should be enjoying a beautiful view or a night out with friends. Stay informed about your body by taking a food intolerance test, that way you know what foods to avoid. (Learn more by reading our previous article on food intolerance testing).
  2. Read ahead: When going out to eat, make sure you check out the menu ahead of time, so you know what you can and cannot eat based on your intolerances. Most restaurants have their menus available online, so you can walk in knowing what you’re going to order.
  3. Bring your own meals: Sometimes when you go out, you end up eating the first thing that’s available. Because these foods may be on your intolerance list, they can ruin your day or even your week! Bringing along snacks or foods your body can tolerate will make it easier to eat the right foods when the need arises.

Once you know your intolerances and have a plan for your meals, all you have to do is enjoy yourself. Knowing your body is one of the best ways to live a happier life and enjoy the great weather that is approaching. So, don’t let food intolerances keep you down! Instead, take control of your diet so you can go out there and do the things you love!
